Initial D: Tohru Suetsugu has been eagerly awaiting the upcoming battle between his team, the Seven-Star Leaf, and the challengers, the famous "Project D" racing team. He has a lot at stake besides racing pride, having accepted that if he loses he either gives up racing or his girlfriend, Nao, breaks up with him. As Project D arrives, the Leafs see that it consists of a Mazda RX-7 FD3S and a Toyota AE86. The FD is Keisuke Takahashi’s and the Eight-Six is none other than the Panda Trueno driven by Takumi Fujiwara. Led by Ryosuke Takahashi, Project D is a force to be reckoned with, but they only have one night to learn the course. The first battle is Tohru vs. Takumi on a downhill pursuit styled race.
