123movies Chernobyl Diaries (2012)

Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town since the disaster more than 25 years ago. User Review: This was a very well thought out movie. The actors played off each other very well and they did a great job playing the rolls they had. I really could tell that the two guys were very brother-like and had the same big brother/little brother behavior. Loved how they made it into a horror movie. The way it was made were it was a group tour really played off well. And I never saw the way it ended coming. It was a real twist. I never saw this coming to the point of being a government conspiracy in the ending. All in all very well done! And people should remember it from the makers of Paranormal Activity so the way the camera movements are done are very typical of those movies.
Director: Bradley Parker
Cast: Jesse McCartney, Jonathan Sadowski and Olivia Dudley

123movies Ondine (2010)
Ondine, produced by Neil Jordan, is a story about a fisherman by the name of Syracuse (Colin Farrell) who one day fishes from the sea a beautiful "woman" (Alicja Bachleda) who apparently lost her memory but keeps a more. She wants to be called Ondine since Ondine is "the one who came out from the waters first". The chemistry between Syracuse and Ondine exist and you witness a surprisingly true story of love between these 2 characters. In his journey to understand her he realizes she is nothing but the selkie (half-human half-seal who loves to sing) the locals knew from the story about "the fisherman and the girl in the net". Annie, a girl who suffers from a kidney failure disease, is Syracuse daughter and she keeps a strong balance between his father and Ondine but things get interesting when a special villain infiltrates in the story who tries to deceive and destroy all the hope that surrounds these two lovers. The story gets deeper and deeper especially into the second part of the movie where Syracuse is frightened that Ondine will haunt him forever and then the emotional conflicts begin. Other than that the ending contains twists that make the fairytale seem ... real in a real world. The story is beautiful but it has its points where you could skip like about 2-3 mins because nothing really happens or the dialogue is poor written but still that doesn change the fact that the movie might get interesting once you e going through it. I never read the fairytale nor I saw other adaptations of Ondine but this one made it clear for me that this is a great movie to watch in a lazy afternoon all alone especially if you e going through melancholic times. Like I said the acting was well mostly because the characters are written well and the chemistry exists between each pair though the Vladic (the villain) was kind of lame. The movie has a surprisingly good cinematography and the soundtrack fits the weird-fantasy atmosphere. I don recommend this movie to everyone because its not a movie for everyone simply because some won understand it or some will bash it considering it boring or slow-paced but if you e into love tales or journeys into thoughtful worlds then this is the movie for you.
Director: Neil Jordan
Cast: Colin Farrell, Alicja Bachleda and Dervla Kirwan

123movies Shrek Forever After (2010)
A bored and domesticated Shrek pacts with deal-maker Rumpelstiltskin to get back to feeling like a real ogre again, but when he's duped and sent to a twisted version of Far Far Away -- where Rumpelstiltskin is king, ogres are hunted, and he and Fiona have never met -- he sets out to restore his world and reclaim his true love. Shrek Forever After (and yes, that's the official title as seen in the first real shot of the film) is a welcome return to form after the disappointment of Shrek The Third, which LOOKED beautiful but hit all the wrong notes. This one has recaptured the fun of the franchise while potentially being the darkest one in terms of plot. Alternate universe stories have been done to death, but the appealing nature of so many of the characters makes this one work, as well as the fact that the filmmakers are clearly trying to wrap up the story (which includes a small bit of retconning at the beginning, but it pays off toward the end). The 3D occasionally falls into the trap of throwing things towards the audience, but the characters and sets are so beautifully animated in all dimensions (the textures of Shrek and Donkey, particularly, have improved even on the wonder that was Kung Fu Panda) that the 3D actually adds to the enjoyment. The first two remain the crown jewels of the franchise, but this is a worthy addition and a suitable end to the... well, saga is too strong a word, so storyline will have to do. And the bonus? Eddie Murphy gets to sing SEVERAL songs WITHIN the movie!
Director: Mike Mitchell
Cast: Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy
123movies A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Death stalks the dreams of several young adults to claim its revenge on the killing of Freddy Kruger. Chased and chastised by this finger-bladed demon, it is the awakening of old memories and the denials of a past of retribution that spurns this hellish vision of a dreamlike state and turns death into a nightmare reality. It was definitely Platinum Dunes' best movie. The first 30-45 minutes were very powerful, and then it kind of slacked, but came back at the end. Nevertheless, I surprisingly never lost interest, something I was kind of expecting, because I've been keeping up with this movie for almost a year now. It held me to the very end, and I never got bored with it. Putting the movie up against the original, it failed. But putting it up against the entire Nightmare franchise, I'd say it was better than all the sequels. A very worthy entry, a great popcorn movie, and a great comeback to an icon who hasn't had a movie completely to himself in 16 years. I'll definitely buy it when it comes out. Putting it in the context of remakes/reboots, I'd say it was above RZ's Halloween II, Stepfather, Friday The 13th, Texas Chainsaw, and The Wolfman, but lower than Hills Have Eyes and Last House On The Left.
Director: Samuel Bayer
Cast: Jackie Earle Haley, Rooney Mara and Kyle Gallner

123movies Our Family Wedding (2010)
"Our marriage, their wedding." It's lesson number one for any newly engaged couple, and Lucia and Marcus are no exception. In Our Family Wedding, they learn the hard way that the path to saying "I do" can be rife with familial strife. When they return from college and too suddenly announce their marriage plans, they soon discover that their fathers - two highly competitive over-the-top egos - can wreak a major amount of havoc on their special day. With insults flying and tempers running high, it's anyone's guess if the alpha dads will survive to make it down the aisle in one piece. Lucia's mother is busy planning the wedding of "her" dreams and the only levelheaded one in the bunch is Angela, the groom's father's best friend and lawyer, who manages to keep her cool when the madness reaches a crescendo. With only weeks to plan their wedding, Lucia and Marcus soon discover the true meaning of love and find there is truth to the saying - that when you marry someone... Do not pay attention to the ridiculously low rating this film has accumulated. It's hardly one of the best movies you'll ever see, but it is overall much more enjoyable than not. The young leads are a charming, believable couple, and you do root for them. I thought the more obvious (meaning unfunny) racial jokes were actually kept to a respectable minimum, considering that culture clash is the main premise of the movie. Some scenes work better than others. One involving the families figuring out the "seating schematic" is quite clever and funny. One involving a bathroom is a rather shameless and unfunny ripoff of a scene from "Father of the Bride." Carlos Mencia, I have to say, I don't think is funny or a particularly good actor. I kept finding myself imagining someone else in the part (*cough* George Lopez... or anyone else, really). But he wasn't enough to ruin the movie for me. The best parts of the movie were the story with Forest Whitaker and Regina King, and anything with Charlie Murphy, who has a small but hilarious role. The one scene featuring him and Taye Diggs was the one time I laughed HARD. And yes, as another reviewer pointed out, the actress playing the sister was excellent. Most of the plot points are predictable, yes, but I didn't really hold that against "Our Family Wedding." I at least had a better time than I've had at most real weddings. I give it a 6 out of 10.
Director: Rick Famuyiwa

123movies Defendor (2010)
A crooked cop, a mob boss and the young girl they abuse are the denizens of a city's criminal underworld. It's a world that ordinary Arthur Poppington doesn't understand and doesn't belong in, but is committed to fighting when he changes into a vigilante super-hero of his own making, Defendor. With no power other than courage Defendor takes to the streets to protect the city's innocents. Probably the best movie so far, this year. And it would have dodged my radar completely if my friend wouldn't have recommended it to me. So here's me, recommending it to you. It's a dark comedy, which will make you laugh, no doubt. But it's comedy saturated with a sad story about this great guy that escapes his ordinary life by turning into this Defendor character. Someone who's not afraid. Allegedly a thousand times better than the guy without the mask. And together they'll make you love this movie. It actually reminded me a lot of "Reign Over Me" with Adam Sandler. Which is also very good. If you're in the mood for a drama that'll captivate you, but won't rip your heart out, like Million Dollar Baby might have or most certainly will. This is what you're looking for.
